Blending Peruvian Mediterranean Aesthetics, Sustainability, and Female Empowerment. In Lima’s sunlit ateliers, a quiet revolution in female empowerment in fashion is taking shape. Founded in 2014 by Peruvian entrepreneur Raffaella Raffo, Capittana is a women-led fashion brand that embodies the belief that style can be both exquisite and socially transformative. The name Capittana —meaning female captain —is a mission in itself. From day one, Raffo envisioned more than a label; she imagined a community. Each piece is handmade in Peru by single mothers and local artisans who transform fabric into fashions, using their skills to achieve financial independence. In this way, every bikini, dress, or kaftan is an emblem of Peruvian craftsmanship and personal empowerment. Defining Luxury Swimwear to Sustainable Resortwear Sibling team Raffaella and Stefano Raffa launched Capittana in 2014 as an ode to Peruvian women. Available in markets across Latin America, the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Capittana’s hand-knit swim and resortwear wardrobe redefines delicate femininity for summer style all year long. With a showroom in Miami, Capittana’s crocheted swimwear employs local women artisans who hand-craft each piece into the ultimate slow-fashion summer staple. In Miami’s eclectic Wynwood Arts District, the showroom embodies the brand’s emphasis on sustainability. Not only does Capittana embrace sustainability pillars like fair wages and decent employment , but it’s committed to reducing its carbon footprint. Upcycled materials, water recovery resources used during production, and recycled cardboard in packaging are just some of the ways Capittana reduces waste to meet the expectations of increasingly eco-minded consumers . All collections, from textured bikinis to knitted dresses, are produced in limited batches to avoid over-manufacture-related waste. Peruvian Roots, Global Presence Capittana harkens Italy’s sun-drenched shores, Greece’s white-washed island homes , and Latin American florals with global-inspired collections. Sole, La Dolce Vita, Postcards from Greece, and Bajo El Sol are all nods to the world’s most iconic vacation destinations. From Sole, the Patsie Roses Cover-Up is a transparent crocheted midi-dress with blue-shaded roses evoking the Mediterranean's ocean ripples. In Postcards from Greece, metallic bikinis, knitted skirts, and maxi dresses reflect the pastels of a Mykonos sunset. Bajo El Sol, with bikinis crocheted with hot pink and orange flowers and rainbow-striped coverups, evokes Peruvian foliage and tropical vibes. Whether your vacay aesthetic is Euro summer or sultry palm-tree sands, Capittana’s summer wear has something for everyone. Labeled with Empowerment At the heart of Capittana’s mission is a deep commitment to social responsibility and community empowerment. By celebrating handmade artistry and employing local artisans in Peru, Capittana not only preserves cultural heritage but also uplifts the communities it calls home. Their vision of female empowerment extends far beyond fashion; it’s a movement that resonates globally. Its designs are stocked in over 15 countries, carried by retailers such as Nordstrom, Revolve, Bloomingdale’s, Free People, and Anthropologie. Capittana’s influence on female empowerment in fashion extends beyond employment opportunities. It’s about redefining beauty, confidence, and success through clothing that tells a story. This is Peruvian fashion that elevates not just aesthetically but also socially. Capittana shapes the next chapter of ethical fashion brands by proving that handmade in Peru can be both globally desired and deeply rooted in local heritage. For women who seek beauty with meaning, this is more than fashion; leadership, artistry, and empowerment, worn with pride. In every stitch, a story. In every thread, a captain. - Luxury Resort Wear: Luna Fashion House Catalina Debut
Shop luxury resort wear from Luna Fashion House’s Catalina Island debut. Discover feminine silhouettes, elevated essentials, and must-have pieces to buy now. The ready-to-wear brand’s editorial debut on the island marks a turning point in its elevated aesthetic. Few events captured the intersection of creativity and lifestyle as well as Orange County Fashion Week (OCFW). OCFW is a biannual fashion and luxury lifestyle event held in Orange County, California. The multi-day event convenes a dynamic mix of emerging designers, established labels, stylists, and media, creating a platform where fashion extends far beyond the runway. This season marked a significant milestone for Luna Fashion House (LFH) , as the brand debuted in the U.S. in September, signaling a thoughtful expansion into the market. Known for its refined tailoring and feminine silhouettes, LFH approached the week not simply as a showcase but as an opportunity to articulate its identity across multiple dimensions. lunafashionhouse.com Luna Fashion House Official - The Power of Femininity in Every Stitch Since 1990, Luna Fashion House has embodied timeless European elegance. Each piece is crafted in women-led ateliers, designed to empower, inspire, and last beyond the season. A heritage of accessible luxury, rooted in the power of femininity. A First on Catalina Island In a defining moment for both the brand and the event, LFH participated in its first-ever editorial photoshoot staged on Catalina Island. Set against Catalina’s Mediterranean scenery and relaxed resort culture, the shoot reflected LFH’s distinct study in movement, light, and subtle opulence. “Our first-ever editorial photoshoot on Catalina Island for OC Fashion Week was a defining moment for Luna Fashion House,” said Margareta Petrovic, CEO of Luna Fashion House. “The setting allowed us to express our vision in its purest form, natural, feminine, and effortlessly strong. There is something about the ocean, the light, and the movement that brings the garments to life in a way that feels both cinematic and deeply personal.” Here, LFH’s vision was clear. Resort-inspired pieces , crafted from lighter fabrics and shaped through structured silhouettes, ebbed and flowed with Catalina’s tide, merging alongside the shoreline in complimentary Euro aesthetic. Ocean air softened each look. Sunlight traced silhouettes. The resulting campaign? Cinematic imagery with LFH’s unmistakable stamp: effortless yet intentional style that is all things feminine, composed, and quietly grounded in Catalina’s sense of place. Greta Off-the-Shoulder Dress in Navy. As Petrovic explained, “It was more than a photoshoot. It was a reflection of what Luna stands for.” A reflection of LFH’s approach to craftsmanship and self-expression through elevated fashion is exactly what the Catalina shoot achieved. Together, OCFW and LFH formed a cohesive introduction to the U.S. audience: a brand rooted in craftsmanship, guided by femininity, and attuned to the rhythm of contemporary luxury. - Made in Italy Rosaries & Jewelry by Ghirelli
Ghirelli’s made in Italy rosaries and jewelry embody faith, craftsmanship, and devotion, offering timeless Catholic designs that elevate Holy Week reflection. As Holy Week begins, we are reminded that if anyone is known for capturing beauty in symbols, it’s Catholics. While the start of Holy Week sees shrouded statues and imagery in churches throughout the world, encouraging the faithful to focus on spirituality rather than visuals, Catholicism is synonymous with her art. Think La Pieta at St. Peter’s, The Creation of Adam in the Sistine Chapel, Gothic architecture at Paris’ Notre-Dame Cathedral. Among these devotees of Catholic art is Ghirelli, the family-run, made in Italy jewelry and rosary makers. But rosary beads are not symbols, as Alessandro and Cinzia Ghirelli ensure in every collection, every rosalet, necklace, sculpture, and crucifix. The husband-and-wife team’s story began in what seemed like an insurmountable tragedy. While engaged, Alessandro, Cinzia, and his father suffered a severe car accident that injured Cinzia and took his father’s life. Left to run his father’s vegetable distribution company, Alessandro and Cinzia moved forward in grief. Soon after, yet another tragedy struck, this time one that rocked all of Europe: the Chernobyl nuclear power plant exploded . Radioactive dust rained as far as Italy, thick enough to choke Alessandro’s crops, destroy the business, and abandon the newly married couple with nearly half a million dollars in debt and loss. Who could overcome these insurmountable odds? Seemingly no mortal being. Seeing no way out, Alessandro and Cinzia fell to their knees in prayer, clinging to the Blessed Virgin through her rosary in their hands. As he prayed, little did Alessandro know that he held his future in his two hands. Literally. What were beads clutched in desperation transformed Alessandro’s heart with an unavoidable purpose: he had to devote his life to the very Lady of the Rosary herself, starting by honoring her with not just rosary beads, but the most beautiful, unique, and inimitable rosary beads the world has ever seen…glorifying Our Lady with the beauty that befits her name. While the road to Ghirelli was paved with obstacles and hardships, like every cross Catholics are called to carry, Alessandro and Cinzia consecrated themselves to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. They had no answers, other than to give everything to the Blessed Virgin. Everything. Their lives, their futures, their business. And look at the results. Today, Ghirelli is synonymous with honoring God through beauty, as the Vatican and her basilicas have done for centuries. Hand-sketched, tailor-made rosaries. Collections designed for Mysteries of the Rosary , Holy Saints Rosaries , and Precious Stones Rosaries are just a smattering of design devotions to choose from. Materials range from gold, silver, and vintage, as well as rose gold, crystal, gemstone, and even Murano glass . Pavé gold with diamond studs or matte black Rosalet ® bracelets are a respectful way to wear a rosary on your wrist; these material-customizable, engraving-ready Rosalets provide an easy-to-transport rosary for when you travel. Materials range from sterling silver and gold-plated sterling silver to fully pavé gold with Zircon pavé. Rosalets ® by Ghirelli Collaborations include Hallow ® with Ghirelli , rosaries with their own built-in QR code to connect prayer to the wildly popular Hallow prayer app, the world’s number one Catholic prayer app . There is also the Ghirelli ® for the Vatican collection and an ongoing partnership with Jonathan Roumie , star of the global hit TV show, “The Chosen,” who plays Jesus and is a devout Catholic in real life. What does Ghirelli teach us? That when we truly surrender , drop to our knees and say Jesus, I surrender myself to you, take care of everything , we may not have answers, but we have hope. We have protection. And in the end, even when Christ sounds silent, we know resurrection is at hand. Here is to a fruitful Holy Week. “Both the ocean and perfume are made up of natural, living materials with infinite evocations.” Part voyage, part homage, L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Eau de Parfum is Sophie Labbé’s deep dive into the shimmer and soul of the sea. Inspired by remote Polynesian atolls and the invisible poetry of the ocean’s depths, the master perfumer reimagines a modern icon with a bolder aquatic heart, sustainable craftsmanship, and a luminous masculine edge. In this Q&A, she reveals how light, water, and movement became scent. What ties do you have with Issey Miyake, and Eau d’Issey in particular? Thanks to his Japanese roots, Issey Miyake cultivates a special relationship with nature, an object of both contemplation and emotion. The designer has brought a breath of fresh air to Parisian fashion. With his poetic approach, he has turned the traditional structure of clothing on its head. L’Eau d’Issey is a benchmark fragrance. It transcribes the code of an aquatic memory in both a universal and subjective way. Its olfactory approach is quite similar to that of a representation of water, as it can appear through the refined symbolism of certain Japanese prints or literary works. It particularly resonates with me because nature is at the centre of my life and I am a frequent reader of Japanese authors. I’m honoured to be working on the iconic theme of L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme! 30 years after L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Eau de Toilette, how is the aqueous accord emblematic of Issey Miyake fragrances expressed in this new fragrance? It’s a huge task to remodel a classic fragrance. I wanted to rewrite L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme using a new ingredient. I evolved the initial characteristic aqueous note of Calone®, which has great evocative powers, replacing it with Cascalone®. This more intense and contemporary molecule amplifies the aquatic effect. It cascades down, carrying with it fruity micro-notes. Together with Alexis Rosenfeld, the founder of 1Ocean, you set off to discover the seabed. How did this encounter inspire you? Meeting Alexis made me aware of the invisible, fascinating and highly aesthetic world of the depths of the sea. It’s a mysterious and inspiring world! I discovered an underwater life that I didn’t even know existed, unknown ecosystems. This hidden splendour of life, constantly moving with the currents, was a magnificent source of inspiration for me. Like perfume, water touches the skin, making it highly sensorial. I wanted to capture these emotions in this fragrance. How would you describe the olfactory score of L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Eau de Parfum? This fragrance is a composition of fusing materials, of citrus and Sichuan pepper, revealing a watery, woody signature in a dense, bold modernity. The inspiration for this fragrance came from the beauty of the Polynesian atolls, which I’d already visited, but of which Alexis gave me never-before-seen images. Nestling on thousand-year-old volcanoes, these natural environments, clear and shimmering on the surface, harbour intense life in their depths. I let myself be carried away by these images. Through this creative process, I sailed mentally from my Paris office to these southern seas… As the fragrance evolved, the concept became clearer and more assertive: exploring different shades of blue reveals a new intensity that reaches deep down. A journey in the form of an odyssey, which involved a great deal of research and detours. The bobbing of the waves, the vibration of water, the rhythm of the tides… How do you infuse the olfactory notion of movement into a fragrance? A fragrance is alive, it immerses you, pulsates…Natural materials, in particular, bring their vibrations. The idea of fluidity can be induced by notes that melt their nuances, like cyan blue gradually dissolving into the turquoise of a lagoon. But we can also add rhythm, for example, through a hot/cold effect when notes are juxtaposed in contrasting ways. Can we smell the bewitching metallic reflections that can be seen on the surface of the ocean? In this fragrance, a number of sensations come together, evoking the phenomenon of shimmering water that sometimes makes you blink. Lemon, grapefruit and Sichuan pepper bring a dazzling light to the top note. In the heart, the masculine character is reaffirmed by aromatic notes. Cypress evokes the seashore, on which crash the powerful waves of Cascalone® (a molecule with an aquatic, freshwater scent that exudes a powerful freshness). The base of the fragrance is enriched by the woody notes of cedar and vetiver; these accentuate its depth. The fire of the volcano that gives birth to the atoll is interpreted by Fir Balsam, with its aromatic, woodsy, and balsamic notes. How do you twist the notion of intensity in a masculine way so that it’s subtle and not too literal? I worked on the strength of this fragrance at different levels: at the top, with an electric, radiant pepper note; at the heart, with the aromatic, resinous aspect of cypress; and at the base, with the vibrancy of cedar wood and the balsamic woody inflections of fir balsam. This masculinity gradually asserts itself, going against the grain of prevailing trends. Do you have any tips for prolonging the intensity of your fragrance for as long as possible? A perfume should be sprayed on the body’s pulse points (wrists, behind the ears, elbow creases or knees). It can also be sprayed on clothes made of natural fibres so that the air displaced by movement reactivates it. What does the ocean, the primary source of inspiration for this new fragrance, evoke for you? I associate the ocean with freedom, travel, immensity, horizon, depth and movement. For me, what the world of perfume and the underwater world have in common is their impalpable and intangible mystery, because they are both invisible to our everyday eyes. Both the ocean and perfume are made up of natural, living materials with infinite evocations. Everything moves, everything evolves, and there’s something ephemeral about this that fascinates me. The ocean gives you the experience of the fluidity of water in contact with the skin, and perfume gives you the experience of following an olfactory story: both touch our senses and emotions directly, making their exploration very personal. L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Eau de Parfum has been designed with a more sustainable approach. What were the principal actions taken to achieve this? In our composition maison dsm-firmenich, perfumers have access to an integrated science-based digital impact measurement tool, the EcoScent Compass® Next Generation, which enables ingredients to be selected according to three key pillars: energy expenditure, climate and nature, and impact on people and communities. For this fragrance, I gave priority to ingredients of natural or upcycled origin, such as Italian lemon and Virginia cedar essence. The Sri Lankan cinnamon is of certified origin, and I’ve also opted for ingredients derived from biotechnology, which I’m particularly keen to promote. This science uses natural processes, such as fermentation, to replace energy-intensive industrial methods. Is L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Eau de Parfum ultimately a meeting between the ocean and the light that is reflected in it? I was greatly inspired by the sight of these reflections on the surface. I’d like this fragrance to inspire people to swim in the waters of these remote atolls and admire the beauty of nature, wherever it may be. L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme Eau de Parfum launches September 1 and is available at Macy's and Amazon. Handcrafted leather footwear defines the brand, whose mission caters to those who refuse to compromise style for comfort. Beckett Simonon lets you have it all. Shop Beckett Simonon handcrafted leather shoes . The Price of Quality Work Shoes When co-founders Andrés Niño and Nicholas Hurtado. founded Beckett Simonon in 2011, it was with a goal that virtually no other retailers share: quality over profits. Niño and Hurtado shared the same complaint as most consumers do, which is why does high-quality have to cost so much? Most leather goods brands sold in high quantities at the expense of handcrafted care. The result? Fast fashion on the rise, higher prices with none of the quality you’d expect—and need from leather footwear that must be both professional and comfortable if you’re going to wear them in, say, your office from 9 to 5. Because Beckett Simonon’s leather dress shoes are handcrafted, they are produced in slower, careful, and—most importantly—smaller batches. Because Beckett Simonon operates on a Made-to-Order model, each pair is crafted only after it’s purchased—dramatically reducing overproduction and material waste common in the footwear industry. Their commitment to sustainability extends beyond the environment to the artisans themselves, who work in safe conditions, earn above-average wages, and receive meaningful benefits. By combining ethical manufacturing with durable, full-grain leather designed to last for years, Beckett Simonon proves that responsible craftsmanship and exceptional quality can go hand in hand. The new result? Professional office shoes that are durable, versatile, and sustainable, crafted with minimized waste on the environment and (consumers, this is for you), unmatched prices across the leather footwear industry. Categories Beyond Dress Shoes And when it comes to categories, Beckett Simonon spans all footwear needs. Men's dress shoes, business casual loafers , Chelsea boots , and women’s leather loafers are just some of the styles on offer. Colors and silhouettes range, making for professional office shoes that seamlessly transition between work and play, day or night. From UNESCO-recognized spas to medieval hilltop charm, Montecatini Terme offers the best thermal baths in Tuscany. In the Valdinievole valley of northern Tuscany, between Florence and Lucca, lies Montecatini Terme—a spa town that has embraced the art of wellness for over two thousand years. Celebrated since Roman times for its healing mineral waters, this UNESCO-recognized destination unites thermal therapy, Belle Époque elegance, and the beauty of Tuscan culture. For travelers seeking hidden gems in Italy, Montecatini Terme inspires a journey of rejuvenation and discovery. The Geology Behind Tuscany’s Healing Waters Montecatini Terme, nestled in the province of Pistoia, is a remarkable place blessed with four primary springs: Leopoldina, Regina, Tettuccio, and Rinfresco. These springs draw from an aquifer located 60 to 80 meters beneath the surface. As the water flows through layers of limestone, jasper, and clay, it absorbs essential minerals like sodium, magnesium, and calcium, enhancing digestion, circulation, and joint health. Harnessed by the Etruscans and further developed by the Romans, these springs continue to thrive on geothermal energy. This natural warmth creates an extraordinary environment for balneotherapy, mud therapy, and other rejuvenating spa rituals, making Montecatini a premier destination for wellness in Tuscany. Thermal Baths in Tuscany: The Terme di Montecatini Terme Tettuccio: UNESCO Spa Heritage In Parco delle Terme, Terme Tettuccio emerges as a neoclassical marvel, a testament to architectural design by Gaspero Maria Paoletti in 1779, later renovated in 1928 by Ugo Giovannozzi. This extraordinary “drinking spa” invites guests to experience its marble taps, which dispense mineral waters uniquely crafted to support healing from diabetes to chronic digestive ailments. Visitors sip rejuvenating waters beneath majestic colonnades, surrounded by stunning Carrara marble statues, vibrant gardens, and intricate fountains, evoking a sense of serenity and wellness. Terme Excelsior: Belle Époque Grandeur Although no longer operating as a spa, Terme Excelsior remains an architectural icon of Montecatini’s golden age, when European high society flocked here for mineral treatments, concerts, and social gatherings. Terme Redi: Modern Healing Meets Ancient Waters Constructed in the 1960s, the Terme Redi Thermal Complex combines medical innovation with Tuscan hot springs spa traditions. Some of the Treatments include: Inhalation Therapy: Mineral vapors for asthma, sinusitis, and bronchitis. Balneotherapy: Immersion in mineral pools to relieve arthritis, muscle pain, and circulation issues. Mud Therapy (Fangotherapy): Warm mineral mud applications for detoxification, anti-inflammatory effects, and skin revitalization. Hydro-Kinesiotherapy: Water-based physiotherapy for rehabilitation and improved mobility. The spa’s cosmetic line —creams, serums, and bath salts made from the same waters—allows guests to experience Montecatini Terme’s wellness at home. Products include nourishing olive oil, hydrating mallow, exfoliant marine salts, purifying Thermal Algae, regenerating Olive Stones and Poppy seeds, toning Chestnut Extract, rebalancing oligoelements of health-based minerals and antioxidant Grape Seeds. Montecatini Terme Market: A Taste of Valdinievole On Thursdays, Via di Maratona transforms into the Montecatini Terme Market, a lively display of Tuscan abundance. Stalls brim with regional cheeses such as Reviggiolo, pecorino aged in walnut leaves, and Caciotta Toscana, alongside fresh produce, olive oils, truffle spreads, and spices. For those planning a relaxing Tuscany spa getaway , this market offers the perfect taste of local life before or after your spa treatments. Montecatini Alto: A Medieval Hilltop Gem A quick ride on the Funicolare di Montecatini—in service since 1898—takes visitors to Montecatini Alto, a fortified medieval village with panoramic views of the Tuscan countryside. Piazza Giuseppe Giusti is lined with trattorias and artisan shops, while landmarks like the Rocca di Castello Vecchio, Torre dell’Orologio, and Church of San Pietro showcase centuries of history. Cultural Calendar & Shopping in Montecatini Montecatini’s activities—from the Montecatini Opera Festival to Saturdays with the Master Papermaker —add cultural depth to any visit. Shoppers can choose between high-end boutiques like Gucci and Prada, or local ateliers offering unique, sensibly priced Italian fashion. Why Montecatini Terme Is One of the Hidden Gems in Italy Here, thermal wellness is woven into daily life. You might begin your morning with a prescribed sip of mineral water, browse a bustling market in the afternoon, and end your day watching the sun dip over Tuscany from a medieval tower. This past December, the house of Prada completed its long-anticipated acquisition of Versace for approximately $1.375 billion (€1.25 billion), a decisive move that reshapes the luxury landscape and restores one of Italy’s most storied brands to Italian ownership. First announced in April 2025, the transaction marks the end of Versace’s tenure under U.S.-based Capri Holdings and signals the rise of a newly fortified Italian fashion powerhouse. The agreement places a jewel of contemporary glamour into Prada’s expanding constellation, joining the refined intellectualism of the Prada label and the youthful audacity of Miu Miu with Versace’s unmistakable boldness. Miu Miu, founded in 1993 by Miuccia Prada, stands as the spirited younger sister within the Prada family. Named after Miuccia’s childhood nickname, the brand embodies a playful rebellion, pairing high craftsmanship with an eye for the unexpected. Its collections dance between eras, blending vintage silhouettes and rich fabrics with modern, offbeat details that feel both daring and effortlessly chic. With its avant-garde sensibility and unmistakable charm, Miu Miu continues to redefine contemporary femininity through a lens that is youthful, eclectic, and unapologetically bold. The price, lower than the $2.1 billion paid initially by Capri in 2018, allowed Capri Holdings to refocus its portfolio and strengthen its financial footing, while offering Prada an opportunity rarely seen in modern luxury: the chance to steward a house whose global allure remains both iconic and undimmed. With the acquisition comes a new chapter of leadership. Lorenzo Bertelli, son of Prada owners Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli, heir to the Prada legacy, steps into the role of Executive Chairman at Versace, guiding the brand into its next era. Creative direction now lies in the hands of Dario Vitale (formerly the visionary behind Miu Miu’s design studio) while Donatella Versace embraces a more ambassadorial position, continuing to personify the spirit and legacy of the house that bears her family name. True to Prada’s ethos of craftsmanship, Versace will join the group’s renowned Italian manufacturing network, a move expected to elevate both efficiency and artistry. This integration of design, production, and heritage reflects a broader ambition: to strengthen Italy’s presence on the global luxury stage and stand shoulder to shoulder with French conglomerates such as LVMH and Kering. With regulatory approvals secured across Europe, including the European Commission’s green light in September, Prada’s acquisition of Versace is more than a business transaction. It is a reclamation, a cultural reunion, and a powerful reminder of the enduring magnetism of Italian design. Kissed by Adriatic breezes, San Clemente’s hills brim with bounty. Nestled in Emilia-Romagna, nicknamed “The Food Valley” for its iconic cuisine, San Clemente boasts a viticulture gold mine. Enio Ottaviani Winery. What began as a family of wine sellers in 1966 by Founder Enio Ottaviani skyrocketed into what is now a wine producer, end-to-end supply chain, and exporter to over 30 countries thanks to cousins and partners Davide and Massimo Lorenzi and Mileno and Marco Tonelli. Global Viticulture In 2004, Massimo Lorenzi took the winery to new heights with his vision to transform it into a global exporter. He started small; he hit the road in a van full of wine crates, driving it all over Europe and expanding Enio Ottaviani’s notoriety town by town. By 2013, Enio Ottaviani was exporting to over 30 countries including the U.S. and the Caribbean. A year later, they breached Asia, Africa, and even Australia. Wine Tourism, Romagnolo Style Enogastronomico, wine and food in Italian, defines Emilia-Romagna’s tourism. At the winery, it is the vehicle of the visitor experience. The Cellar, Enio’s tasting hub, faces views of lush green vineyards. Contemporary architecture brings a modern flair to the Enio Ottaviani experience. It also escorts visitors to the barrel room, where rows of cultivated Chardonnay, Romagna Sangiovese, Merlot, and sparkling wines. Here, visitors glimpse behind-the-scenes how Emilia-Romagna produces its best wine, honey, and olive oil. In addition to the immersive barrel room, a showroom and meeting area foster Enio Ottaviani’s signature “wine for friends” experience. Tasting experiences vary from wine type, land, and food pairings. The Local Wines: An immersive tour in the enogastronomia of Emilia-Romagna, this itinerary introduces the region’s best flavors. Local wines are the star of the show: Caciara, Dado, Strati, and Sole Rosso. Flavor pairings come with local cured meats from Sgambato di Mercatello sul Metauro, salami from Macelleria Stringati butchery, Cau & Spada cheese, and Enio’s own house-produced olive oil. Led by Enio’s winemaker, visitors will tour the barrel room and explore the vineyards in the heart of the Conca Wildlife Oasis. Goodie bags include a Pantone kit and a wine handbook for aspiring viticulturists to take on the go. Territorial: With the same offering as The Local Wines, this tasting tour incorporates grape varieties that thrive in Romagna’s unique climate. These include Mada, Clemente Primo, 928, and Merlot. White Wines: Visitors get to sample the region’s best whites in the Wine Shop, with an itinerary of five types: Strati, Clemente I, Mada, and Rebola. E-Bike Tour: Enio pairs with Romagna Bike, a cycling tour company, so visitors can explore just what makes San Clemente so special. Trails stretch to the beaches of the Adriatic, with cycle and pedestrian paths that zigzag through the Conca River Valley, between the River Conca and Morciano di Romagna, grazing Misano, Cattolica, and San Giovanni in Marignano and San Clemente. Before visitors depart, the winery will pack their group picnic baskets of wine, cheese, cured meats, and olive oil sourced from the bike routes’ surrounding landscapes. “During tasting and Wine Tasting Experience, you will find a selection of local products and producers. We have become friends over time, we chose them because we have a lot in common: the love of our territory and the deep knowledge of the raw materials each of us works with every day. People themselves are the real wealth of a territory.” Each tour is one hour long, offered from Monday through Sunday to groups of 10 or less. Small dogs and children aged 15 and above are permitted. Sustainable Agriculture The land feeds Enio Ottaviani, but Enio Ottaviani feeds it right back. Nestled in the Conca Wildlife Oasis, the vineyards stretch across 18 hectares of land, from the Adriatic’s coast to San Clemente. These hills are propped at a high altitude, which increases crop UV exposure and boosts grape health. The winey’s lands themselves stretch from the Wildlife Oasis to Morciano di Romagna. Here, biodiversity thrives. Hundreds of flora and fauna species flourish in the valley’s lush soil, an environmental element that Enio Ottaviani strives to preserve, protect, and nourish through its eco-responsive farming practices. “The link between all of these mentioned elements determines the great majority of the characteristics of our wines, and can tell our story much better than just a glass of wine... it is the story of our territory.” All crops are cultivated with a regenerative method. Integrated crop management, which optimizes crop productivity without chemical, biological, or cultural intervention. Quite simply, the winery’s harvest is au-natural. They were even awarded the SQNPI certificate for their compliance with the Regional Integrated Crop Management Guidelines. In the vineyards, weeds are controlled through copper, sulphur, and zero glyphosate or mechanical methods that are known for their harmful impact on the environment. “We aim at fulfilling the concept of CLIMAT, which is reached when a portion of land where the interaction between the subsoil, the soil and man’s know-how create a unique vineyard. The result is a wine immediately recognizable and balanced over time.” Bees are also used to pollinate crops with a natural, anti-pesticide method. Bee pollination also promotes healthier soil rich in nutrients, as the winery plants flowers through its lands to sustain bee food and habitats. This method also promotes regenerative farming that gives back to the earth as its resources are utilized, minimizing waste and optimizing Enio’s sustainable impact on Emilia-Romagna itself. The best part? Enio’s bee hives allow the winery to produce its own honey, too. Right down to the packaging, Enio Ottaviani embraces sustainable foresting practices. All packaging is also plastic-free. Any printed material utilizes Fedrigoni X-Per paper, which is pure cellulose and ECF, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®)-certified. Singular Wines: Dado Romagna Sangiovese Among Enio’s barrels and barrels of whites, reds, sparklings, and rosé, its most notorious bottle is Dado Romagna Sangiovese. “A tribute to the tradition of Sangiovese di Romagna,” Dado is the result of years of cultivation and testing. Dado’s grapes are gathered separately from the main harvest; its conception began to “liquify” Enio’s overall identity. The winery chose to harvest Dado in targeted oils at high altitudes to maximize the benefits of sun exposure: between 60 and 260 meters above sea level. Planted on a truly lucky Sangiovese plot, Dado’s surrounding elements also cocoon its production in ideal growing conditions. Its Adriatic climate fosters mild winters and cool summers, which nourish rather than suffocate crops. This year-round mild climate provides the perfect habitat for the final product, cultivating an overall cradle of healthy, vibrant origins in the earth. Right down to the soil, Dado’s environment is perfect: untainted yellow ochre clay allows vine roots to take firm hold of the earth and thrive among pebbles, silt, and clay. The result? A red that effortlessly balances typically contradicting profiles. A sapidity that hits the tongue conjures the Adriatic’s sea-salt wind, acquainting flavor with coastal minerality. Sharpness is softened to a delicate overall taste, a fresh flavor that packs a punch but is earthy enough for sophisticated sipping. Its body also flashes a deep blue in some lights, reflecting on a violet-purple backdrop. This rich tone reflects Dado’s acidic balance with fruity notes of black cherries, raspberries, and strawberries. The earthy element grows from violets, black pepper, and tamarind. Dado’s culinary pairings are evergreen. From summertime spirits with a plate of light seafood to mid-winter dinners of hearty stews and white meals, Dado is the ultimate red that merges luxury and easy versatility. These endless culinary pairing options reflect Dado’s origins in its Adriatic altitudes, where that year-round climate perfection provides the foundation that will ultimately create a wine that can be enjoyed all year long, in any setting or temperature. As stated in the Enio Ottaviani Catalog, Dado Romagna is a singular experience: “Dynamic in the mouth, with an energy and sapidity that makes everybody fall in love with it. Dense and elegant tannin texture is perceived when paired with: fish in the oven or en papillote, white meats, stews. This Sangiovese goes well with almost everything.” The Future of Wine Enio Ottaviani is the traditional Italian winery for the modern palette. Ever-changing and adapting to the fast-paced global wine industry, the winery caters to expectations in eco-responsibility, agritourism, and quality of ingredients for a truly unique cellar. Through this spirit of innovation, every glass poured at the winery honors the legacy of Enio Ottaviani, the creator of it all.
