For 17 years, Palm House was a pink, abandoned structure ignored by the denizens of Palm Beach. The island hotel is just a block from the beach but was overlooked by developers and tourists alike. Until now. Enter L+R Hotel Group , the London-based investment firm that cultivates the world’s finest resorts and five-star hotels. In 2019, the group acquired the property and welcomed it into its portfolio of Iconic Luxury Hotels . This hotel list of popular destinations includes London’s Mayfair Townhouse, Taplow’s 5-star estate Cliveden House, and Venice Lido’s Hotel Excelsior on the Adriatic Sea. Alongside architects Cooper Carry, L+R transformed Palm House with the island’s signature Mediterranean Revival architecture. This means coral facades synonymous with Palm Beach architecture, arched walkways and accents, and tropical greenery, coconut palms, and lively florals native to the property. Island Destinations of the World A vibrant wonderland of tropic elegance, Palm House is the first U.S. location of L+R Hotels, Europe’s largest collection of luxury resorts and hotels. “The addition of Palm House to the iconic luxury hotels portfolio is a pivotal moment for the brand, not only as it will be our second international property, but also because it is the brand’s debut in the U.S.,” said Andrew Stembridge, executive director of Iconic Luxury Hotels. Upon arrival, guests enter a lobby brimming with Palm Beach’s signature pink and green aesthetic. Walls studded with seashell “tapestries” plunge visitors under the sea, illuminated by coral Murano glass chandeliers and a pink-and-ruby living room that promises tropical unwinding for the rest of the stay. Boutique Hotels: Rooms and Suites After check-in, guests are transported through a tropical time machine as they ascend Palm House’s three floors, decorated with sleek photography of Palm Beach in the 60s, as seen through the iconic lens of celebrity photographer, Slim Aarons. Retro coral velvet headboards, lattice antique mirrors, and custom-woven wall sconces adorn each room. Guests who wake up in the Terrace Rooms welcome sunrise above the pool, a turquoise arena of private patios and dining spaces all shaded in Palm House’s signature coral pink. The Expansive Suites, with private balconies and an average square footage of 729 square feet, are framed with palm tree vistas. They are pampered with designer toiletries and feature a soaking tub and shower. The Presidential Suite, the exclusive Holy Grail of rooms, sprawls to a whopping 2,000 square feet with two stories. The massive Alaskan King bed dominates the second-floor master bedroom and takes the title as the largest hotel bed in all of Palm Beach. Personal butler service and twin balconies above the pool are additional features, alongside its own first-floor kitchen and living room area. The Gold List of Tropical Tastes The Palm House Dining Room is one of “the most coveted dining rooms in Palm Beach,” according to its website. It soon becomes clear why when guests enter the restaurant with its patterned walls, teal-green leather seating, and metallic pink accents. Chef Jerry Ayala serves a unique blend of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine, luxuriously assembled in highlight dishes like the toro tartare with caviar, spring chicken shiro miso lemon, and the 28 oz dry-aged prime ribeye with fresh wasabi. With 88 seats and the al-fresco 36-seat terrace that spreads out onto the Sunset Pool Deck, guests can enjoy the Dining Room for a chic breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Speaking of the Sunset Pool Deck, this outdoor dining lounge delivers light bites and refreshing cocktails to sunbathers at the sunken, heated pool. Poolside service and devoted butlers turn a sunny swim day into a personalized oasis, with dining and hourly-updated drinks and activities among private cabana beds and plush cushioned loungers. Nightlife at Palm House centers at the Palm Bar. Pink chandeliers of dazzling Murano glass dangle from a breathtaking vaulted ceiling. Beneath lights of faceted pink and plush coral accents, guests can enjoy specialty cocktails served by white-tuxedoed bartenders. Polished with pink marble, the bar is a stand-out piece of interior design and compliments a mosaic floor of matte and polished marble. Topped by an antique-mirrored ceiling, the Palm Bar is a glittering cove of reflective lights, opulent spirits, and a hub of quality relaxation. The Wedding and Events Collection Palm House’s versatile offerings extend beyond vacationers. Business events, conventions, and weddings find a home in the hotel’s 4,000 square feet of diverse space. A vast ballroom, atrium area, and pool-view outdoor garden terrace provide solutions for the various needs of any large function. Designed with Palm House’s signature pink Murano glass lighting and seaside-inspired coral hues, events also receive the tropic luxury treatment. “Palm House represents an evolution in Palm Beach, raising the bar on luxury while maintaining a playful edge,” said Chris Jaycock, Palm House general manager. Inviting and elegant, Palm House truly has something for everyone. It is also dog-friendly and features Palm Beach’s only underground parking garage. The hotel also features an expansive art collection by Minda Dowling, a London local who brings Stallman Studio canvas-on-edge wall sculptures for engaging, 3-D decor. The retro, limit-pushing art from the 60s also harkens back to Palm Beach’s glory days with Dean West’s famous “The Wrangler,” geometric art by DDE Art Editions, and Brad Walls’ synchronized swimmers photography. Room rates start at $1,289 during the high season, and $499 in the off season. For more information, visit palmhouse.com . From Capri to Venice, India to Japan, Aquazzura Casa takes the home on a journey around the world. The dinnerware collection transforms tablescaping into fine art. Pineapple motifs, Venetian Murano glass, and fruit-and-floral prints are on display, with endless options to choose from. Headquartered in Florence, Aquazzura is typically known as a household name in luxury Italian footwear. However, at Milan Design Week in June 2022, Aquazzura unveiled a new branch of its design umbrella. Created by Founder and Creative Director Edgardo Osorio, alongside interior designer Fiona Leahy of Fiona Leahy Design , Aquazzura Casa entwines nature’s beauty with the dinner table. With Aquazzura’s signature femininity through its use of elegant color palettes, Osorio and Leahy deliver haute couture at home. The Secret Garden collection transports any tablescape through time, landing the room in an 18th-century garden party. Dine with authentic Chinese porcelains like any Old World aristocrat, with porcelain prints painted onto linens and ceramic dinnerware. All from the comfort of home, Secret Garden elevates your dinner party with bursts of garden color, blooming from tree branches with botanical greenery prints. “Fiona has always effortlessly brought my vision to life and, through her imaginative force, brings a beautiful narrative to the Aquazzura Casa Collection.” -Edgardo Osorio Tutti Frutti brings Capri to your cupboard, with the Italian island’s famous ceramics and linens decorating a tablescape with Mediterranean color all year long. Ripe cherries, bright lemons, and lush peaches adorn the plates, napkins, and utensils. With each piece, this collection bursts with the flavors, colors, and bounty of Capri. Cherry Blossom features ceramics that bloom with the Japanese sakura flower, blossoming across plates, bowls, and platters in a garden of celadon green, lemon yellow, and rose pink. The glassware are flower bulbs on thin, branch-like stems. Edged with a leafy silhouette, Cherry Blossom’s ceramic plates complete a tablescape of floral whimsy. Inspired by Osorio’s travels to India, the Jaipur Collection is a vibrant flight to the exotic. Geometric patterns redefine Aquazzura Casa’s elegance, painting the violets, purples, and pinks of India’s sunrise across every ceramic, linen, and tablecloth. Pineapple, Aquazzura’s emblem of at-home luxury, stamps the center of every piece and reminds your tablescape that when dining with you, pampering comes first. Murano Glass, handblown by the glassmakers of Venice, sculpts the drinkware throughout Aquazzura’s Casa collection. Emerald glasses pair with Secret Garden’s greenery, contrasting with forest-like glints. Yellow-gold cups evoke sunset’s glimmer, which feeds light into Capri’s fruits and compliment Tutti Frutti’s plates, platters, and linens. Pale lavender glass pairs with the vibrant hues of the Jaipur Collection, highlighting the exotic prints of India. With these pieces, the possibilities are endless. April 15, 2025 Written By Laurie Melchionne Photography Photos courtesy of 77 Diamonds As the co-founder and managing director of 77 Diamonds , Tobias Kormind has redefined the world of bespoke fine jewelry. Under his leadership, the brand has grown into a global destination for high-quality, customizable diamond pieces, seamlessly blending heritage craftsmanship with modern innovation. With showrooms across Europe and a strong digital presence, 77 Diamonds offers clients an unparalleled jewelry experience, whether they’re selecting an engagement ring in Milan or designing a one-of-a-kind piece online. In this exclusive Q&A, Kormind shares his insights on the brand’s journey, the art of diamond selection, and what sets 77 Diamonds apart in the luxury jewelry industry. 77 Diamonds has showrooms all over Europe, with the latest opening in Glasgow, Scotland. Do different locations exhibit different design trends? Do different showrooms have demand in different categories? There are different tastes in different markets. What sells in America, for example, can be very different from what sells in Europe. Americans traditionally favor lower color with lower clarity but larger overall cuts. It’s all about size. The core determiner varies between different groups of people within our global markets. In Germany, where we have a showroom in Berlin and Munich, people are all about quality over size. The same goes for the Chinese market. The rest of Europe gravitates to middle colors and middle clarities. In Italy, we’ve noticed that people come to us with more stylized designs. Color is more of a major factor in the equation. We see a lot of gemstones, colored diamonds, and an overall aesthetic that leans toward flamboyant. Quality craftsmanship, like most Italian apparel and accessories categories, is also very important to their market. We play a unique role there, as in London, we own a workshop on four floors which allows slow dedication to the craftsmanship that creates each piece. Whether you’re in Stockholm or Milan, what sparks style trends? Celebrities often influence trends that disrupt the market. For example, Selena Gomez’s engagement ring ignited a huge demand for marquee engagement rings and oval-shaped diamonds. These kinds of celebrity-led trends affect Italy less so than in the UK or Germany. Before that, there was a period when ear cuffs were super popular. So we expanded our ear cuff collection, while still selling classic designs that people wear for the rest of their lives. It’s all thanks to our bespoke approach. We’ll take the stones and recreate something flexible that clients value as a sentimental piece. How does Milan define luxury? How does 77 Diamonds’ Milan showroom embrace these elements? Milano has a distinct, understated luxury. There, our clients have the option of going for big-name brands, but they come to us instead. We don’t have any visible branding, which makes a huge difference; our Italian market is big on quality over flashy brand names. They don’t shy away from designing bold statement pieces; however, they come to 77 Diamonds to create a truly one-of-a-kind piece that is unique to them. Milan’s design aesthetic is also all about creativity. People come to the showroom with special, original designs. Our designers will sit with them and customize every aspect of the piece from fittings to clarity. Our Italian clients have a clearer idea of what they want when they come in, while in our other markets in Scandinavia or Germany, clients are more hands-off and are happy to be guided. How many of your clients in Milan are tourists looking for a Milanese memento versus Italians? We do get tourists who can afford luxury diamonds and want to get their engagement ring or necklace from Milan. However, most of our clients in Milan are Italians, with 60% being from Milan itself and 40% coming from Italy’s other regions. What is some information that a client should bring with them before their appointment? If you’re buying for yourself, we’re happy to collaborate with you from scratch. Just you, your idea, and our designers. If you’re buying for someone else, it helps our designers to know their sizes or style preferences. If the piece is for an engagement, anniversary, or other kind of celebration, that also helps in the storytelling process. That’s the goal of every piece; they are unique to the person and therefore tell a story about who they were during a moment in time. It is unique to them and should reflect whatever season in life we represent in their story. If someone were to walk into a showroom with just a sketch on a napkin and nothing else, could an engagement ring or statement necklace be made from it? Absolutely. We have a talented head of design who has been working with us for many years. Her designs can be commercial and sell well, but she understands who we are as a brand and keeps us grounded within our core angle. Because of that, we can do everything from custom rings to tiaras. We can literally design and craft anything, as long as it works. What would be an example of something that “wouldn’t work?” Pieces that might have a strange physical gravitational restriction. For example, if someone comes in with a sketch of a pair of diamond teardrop earrings, chances are we’ll have to tell them if it is too long or too heavy. We work with natural and lab-grown diamonds, which can tug on the earlobe or if it’s a necklace, can get caught on clothing. A necklace that’s charm is too pointy can also be potentially dangerous. Rings that are too long, thin, or narrow won’t sit properly on the knuckles and can restrict hand movement. We try to rethink our approach to designs that can potentially cause discomfort or clothing restrictions. We meticulously blend a piece’s geometry with the client’s anatomy. Because of that, nothing can be repeated; we take a person’s unique dimensions and create their diamond statement piece around their proportions. What are some of your favorite elements of sustainability embraced by 77 Diamonds? Right now, we are working on an RJC certification. That’s for the Responsible Jewellery Council , which has given us credibility so clients can shop with a clear conscience. Our metal is recycled. We don’t sell Burmese rubies and make sure that we source from places that don’t have a history of human rights abuses. We recycle as much as we can. We try to consolidate shipments to minimize air travel time as well. We also spend a lot of time talking to our suppliers to ensure that their industrial processes are efficient and sustainable, from manufacturing to energy conservation to workplace environment. What’s next? Within the next five months, we are expanding our commitment to sustainability. We’ll be moving to an expanded workshop, which will allow us to streamline our production and supply processes even more. We have also tossed around the idea of opening a showroom in Rome. You’ll have to stay tuned for that one! The 2025 route gives access to the “most famous Christmas markets in Austria and Germany.” As twilight settles over Roma Termini, the Espresso Monaco train gleams under the station lights. At 7:57, travelers climb aboard with a boarding pass in one hand and a steaming cup of espresso in the other. On screens inside the train, stops along this Christmas trail slowly fade in and out: Roma, Verona, Trento, Bolzano, Bressanone, Vipiteno, Brennero, Innsbruck, Kufstein, Munich. Christmas markets glitter in each of these towns throughout Italy’s north and into Austria and Germany. The journey, like a Currier and Ives painting, promises Christmas wonder in every passing mile. A Vintage Spirit Reimagined FS Treni Turistici Italiani, the official train group running the iconic tourist Espresso Monaco train, railway excursions, and charter experiences throughout Italy, promises a Christmas-first experience from the moment you climb aboard. Carriages are festooned with fir garlands, twinkling lights, and the gentle hum of Christmas music. Each passenger receives a small holiday present to kick off the gift-giving season. Leaving Rome’s golden glow behind, the train glides into soft wintry evening. Rolling plains become foothills as you enter central Italy. Assisi at Christmas, the enchanting land of St. Francis, has an open-air nativity scene under the Basilica of San Francesco. Arezzo, another stop on Espresso Monaco’s path, hosts Piazza Grande’s wooden vendor houses of traditional crafts and Tyrolean bites like goulash, sweet and savory pretzels alongside Arezzo’s Tuscan torrone and panettone. Meanwhile, the Big Lights Show illuminates the market in holiday wonder. After Arezzo, the train moves north into the silhouette of the Dolomites under a silver moon. The route pauses at Verona pre-dawn, then on to Trento and Bolzano, its carriages weaving north through Bressanone and Vipiteno, before crossing the Brenner pass into Austria via Innsbruck and Kufstein. Through the windows, villages twinkle with Christmas lights reflected in vineyards; inside, the lounge car offers vin brûlé and the hush of travel at night. Morning in the Alps and Market Magic By morning, the landscape has changed: crystalline peaks, fir-trees dusted in frost, the hush of early winter. The Espresso Monaco train has chugged into Italy’s Alps, into the South Tyrol region, Alto Adige and Dolomite country, where its German neighbors merge traditions on market day. From the official 2025 list, some of the Christmas markets include: Trento : Piazza Fiera and Piazza Cesare Battisti’s mercatini natalizie are some of the largest in the region. One of the country’s oldest and loveliest markets, Piazza Walther merges Bolzano’s distinct Christmas style, with apple strudel and vin brûlée mingling with local crafts and treasures on sale. Bressanone hosts its market in Piazza Duomo, with a luminous holiday light show projected onto Bishop Palace’s baroque facade. In Vipiteno , the market is set in Piazza Città, with neat rows of snow-capped historic vendor stalls that have dubbed this Christmas scene as a holiday “fairytale market. Beyond South Tyrol’s borders, the journey culminates at the iconic Munich Christkindlmarkt at Marienplatz, the crowning jewel of European Christmas markets, a quintessential image of the Old World Christmas village. Munich’s historic center glitters beneath cascades of lights; the scent of roasted chestnuts and cinnamon drifts from wooden chalets. Here at Marienplatz Square, the 117-year-old Rathaus-Glockenspiel clock chimes its melody above Christkindlmarkt. Visitors meander among stalls laden with carved nativity figurines, glass baubles, embroidered linens and gingerbread taller than children. Brass bands play from balconies while families toast to arrival with mugs of steaming Glühwein. Friends made aboard the train raise their toasts together: “We closed our eyes in Rome, and opened them in Christmas,” someone murmurs, snow beginning to fall. The Return Journey For those returning, departure is 1:40 from Munich on Sunday 7 and 14 December; arrival into Roma Termini at 6:33 the next morning. On board, the same enchantment holds: candle-lit dinners, quiet carols, the rhythmic motion of rails through the Alps traveling southward toward the capital. In an era of instant flights and hurried itineraries, the Espresso Monaco brings back the romance of Old World Christmas. From the soft hush of Rome’s station to the sparkling lights of Munich, every mile feels like a ribbon tied around this season of magic. Travel as it once was: soulful, cinematic, alive with holiday cheer. 77 Diamonds unveils its Fall Jewelry Edit, a curated collection where color and craftsmanship intertwine. The jeweler's London atelier has long been known for blending poetic artistry with technical mastery , and this season is no exception. Citrine and Golden Fire The collection opens with the Cocktail Ring Primrose RG Citrine, a sculptural duet of pear-cut citrines framed by pavé diamonds. It feels both botanical and architectural, a modern heirloom capturing sunlight in motion. For those who prefer minimalist radiance, the Prisma Signet Cocktail Citrine translates that same warmth into an emerald-cut gem set in a smooth gold bezel, an effortless statement of refinement. Completing the golden trio, the Prisma Citrine Drops elongate the silhouette with linear precision: golden citrines suspended beneath diamond-set bars, shimmering like late-day rays caught in motion. Cool Tones and Evening Depth For twilight moods, the Prisma Tanzanite Pendant pairs a cushion-cut violet-blue tanzanite with a pear-shaped diamond accent, an elegant interplay of light and shadow. Meanwhile, the Ethera Pendant, centered on a vivid pink tourmaline haloed by diamonds, channels autumn’s softer romance. Sapphire Serenity Sapphires anchor the cooler palette of the edit. The Orion Cocktail Ring dazzles with a deep cornflower-blue stone nestled among clusters of round diamonds, bold yet balanced. For subtle sophistication, the Tea Sapphire Bracelet places delicate round sapphires along a slender chain, an understated whisper of color that layers with gold or white metals. Modern Essentials Two pieces frame the collection with timeless versatility: the Olympia Half Set Eternity Ring, a fine row of diamonds encircling gold’s gentle sheen, and the Serene Hoops, whose clean silhouette embodies quiet luxury. For everyday luminosity, the Idyll Emerald diamond studs deliver refined sparkle in an architectural emerald-cut form. The Art of Seasonal Light In its Fall Jewelry Edit, 77 Diamonds captures the prismatic poetry of the season, from citrine’s golden glow to sapphire’s serene depth. Each design feels like a conversation between earth and sky, newness and reminiscence. This is autumn refracted through fine gems, crafted not merely to be worn, but to be remembered. Now is the season of the winter getaway. In these colder months, we’re dreaming of travel that blends the chic, sun-bleached elegance of the Mediterranean coast with the vibrant, effortless energy of the tropics. At La Peninsula , we’re drawn to this kind of duality—style that feels relaxed yet refined, joyful yet timeless. It’s a fantasy that whispers of sipping espresso in a Santorini courtyard one moment and strolling through lush, palm-fringed gardens the next. The Style Inspiration: Where Two Worlds Meet Imagine the foundational elements of each style. The Mediterranean aesthetic is all about timeless, laid-back luxury. Think clean lines, breathable fabrics like linen and cotton, and a color palette drawn from the landscape: creamy whites, terracotta, ocean blues, and olive green. It’s effortlessly put-together, often accessorized with straw hats and minimalist gold jewelry. The Tropical vibe, in contrast, is a celebration of life and nature. It’s bold, playful prints inspired by flora and fauna, vibrant hues, and airy silhouettes that keep you cool. It’s less about structured tailoring and more about flow and movement. The magic happens in the overlap. Both styles prioritize comfort, natural fabrics, and a connection to the outdoors. Your goal is to find pieces that live happily in both worlds. The Clothing Essentials: Your Capsule Foundation Start with a neutral base and add strategic pops of pattern and color. These are the non-negotiable items for your suitcase: The Linen Staples: A straight-leg linen pant in white or beige is your most versatile piece. Dress it up with a silk cami for a Med-style dinner or down with a simple tank for a tropical market day. Add a linen button-down shirt (wear it open over a swimsuit, tied at the waist, or neatly tucked in). Easy Dresses: Pack at least two dresses. First, a simple, midi-length slip dress in a solid color like champagne, slate blue, or black. It’s your elegant, go-anywhere option. Second, embrace the tropical side with a flowy, printed midi dress. Look for prints with palm leaves, botanicals, or abstract patterns in a color that ties back to your neutral base. High-Quality Basics : A few perfectly fitting cotton or linen tank tops and t-shirts in white, black, and one stripe are the workhorses of your wardrobe. They layer under everything. Tailored Shorts: Swap out denim cut-offs for a pair of tailored, high-waisted shorts in linen or a crisp cotton. A khaki, white, or navy pair looks infinitely more polished. The Versatile Cover-Up: Your swim cover-up should do double duty as a casual dress or tunic. Choose a long, kimono-style piece in a lightweight gauze with subtle embroidery or a block-print pattern. The Accessory Alchemy This is where you truly fuse the two aesthetics. Accessories are the exclamation point of your outfit. Footwear : You need three types. Strappy, flat leather sandals in tan or black (the Mediterranean staple). Colorful or beaded slide sandals (the tropical fun). And a pair of elevated sneakers or espadrilles for long days of exploration. Bags : A structured straw tote is perfect for the beach or market. A small, crossbody bag in woven leather or a bright color is essential for evenings and securing your belongings. Jewelry: Mix delicate and bold. Layer fine gold chains with a chunky, organic shell or wooden necklace. Add a few statement rings and simple hoop earrings. The Finishing Touches: A wide-brimmed straw hat protects you from the sun and instantly elevates any look. You can tie up your hair, accessorize your bag, or become a neckline detail. The Color Palette & Prints Build your palette like an artist. Your neutrals are your canvas: white, oatmeal, tan, navy, and black. Your Mediterranean accents are terracotta, ochre, sage green, and cobalt blue. Your tropical pops are coral, palm green, turquoise, and sunny yellow. When it comes to prints, the key is cohesion. Choose one or two print themes for your entire wardrobe to ensure everything mixes and matches. A botanical print with palm leaves, an abstract stripe, or a simple geometric pattern in your chosen color story will work beautifully. Fabric & Care: Staying Cool and Chic Natural fibers are non-negotiable. Linen, cotton, silk, and lightweight wool (like merino) are your friends. They breathe, wick moisture, and look better as the day goes on. Embrace the natural crinkle of linen. To keep everything fresh, roll your clothes instead of folding to minimize wrinkles. Pack a small bottle of wrinkle-release spray and a few scented sachets of lavender or cedar to keep your suitcase smelling divine. Packing It All Together The art of packing this wardrobe is in the edit. Choose one base color for your neutrals (e.g., stick with all warm tones like oatmeal and tan, or all cool tones like navy and white). Then, ensure every colorful or printed item coordinates with that base. The goal is to create about 10-12 core items that can be mixed into countless outfits for two weeks of adventure. Finally, remember the most important ingredient: confidence. This style blend is about joy, ease, and savoring the moment. It’s the feeling of a slow dinner under string lights and the thrill of a spontaneous ocean swim and your wardrobe should let you move seamlessly between the two. Anacapri, the high-end perch that tops the Amalfi Coast island, is riddled with luxury brands alongside bespoke sandal makers that have been around for decades, such as Canfora Capri Sandals. Founded in 1946 by Amedeo Canfora, the iconic Canfora boutique has handcrafted leather sandals for generations of visitors to the island, blending Italian tradition with understated glamor. Canfora starts Via Camerelle, the fashion street that winds Prada, Gucci, and Chanel through Anacapri’s narrow lanes. Royalty and celebrities alike have shopped Canfora, including none other than Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. Thanks to her, Canfora became a Capri icon when she requested multiple pairs of sandals in custom styles, including what is now affectionately known as the "K" sandal. What sets Canfora Capri Sandals apart is its commitment to artisanal craftsmanship. Each sandal is handmade by skilled cobblers using Italian leather and traditional tools. Unlike mass-produced footwear, every Canfora sandal is made to order, ensuring a precise fit and a product that reflects each wearer’s individual, bespoke aesthetic. Visitors can customize nearly every aspect of their sandals—from strap color to sole height—crafting a piece that is uniquely theirs. Personalization defines Canfora Capri Sandals, keeping it at the forefront of relevancy generation after generation, throughout decades of evolving footwear trends and Amalfi vacation fashion aesthetics. Nestled in Fiesole’s fragrant countryside, Villa San Michele, A Belmond Hotel, is Tuscany’s crowning glory of Renaissance resorts. Bathed in the light of the sunny Arno Valley and within eyeshot of Florence, this monastery-turned-five-star hotel features 42 rooms and 25 suites. Accommodations sprawl across private gardens, secluded flower-hugged terraces, wall-sized stone fireplaces, and even a heated sunken pool. The list blossoms on. This 15th-century property, once headquartered by Napoleon Bonaparte, also boasts a main swimming pool, fitness center and wellness sanctuary—not to mention three on-site restaurants—and pays homage to Italian architecture, Tuscan gastronomy, and a devoted preservation of Catholic heritage. The Tuscan Time Capsule: The Monastery Eat, sleep, and revel near the old monastery, the love child of Italy’s greatest creatives: architect Michele del Barba, stone master Romolo Ferrucci, painter Santi di Tito, and—of course—Michelangelo himself. In the 14th century, the property was owned by the Davanzati family, today known for Palazzo Davanzati in Florence. The family donated the land to an order of Franciscan monks and by 1600, ignited the project to expand, renovate, and design the facade that still stands. It was during this renovation that Michelangelo designed the front facade. On display for marveling guests, Giovanni Davanzati’s 1599 signature of approval is a living glimpse of the hotel’s storied beginnings. Mounted at the entrance is Davanzati’s glorious legacy: the family crest and an inscription carved in Latin: “To God and to Saint Michael. Niccolò de’ Davanzati had erected in 1411. Giovanni de’ Davanzati enlarged 1600.” With this and the on-site Church of Villa San Michele alla Doccia that includes Nicodemo Ferrucci’s 1642 fresco of the Last Supper and a 15th-century fresco of the Ascension of Our Lord, Catholic imagery is synonymous with the villa’s identity. Is it any wonder that the monks chose this special place to worship? Luxurious Accommodations While the grounds and architecture transport visitors back in time, the real immersion is in the rooms, suites, and villas. Morning, noon, and night, opulent interior design merges Tuscan elegance with Renaissance glory. Cushioned headboards, high domed ceilings, and rich embroidered patterns adorn each room. La Limonaia Villa, the Signature Suite, is an on-site cottage clustered among the monks’ old orangerie. Citrus perfumes the air as guests unwind in their private, sunken stone swimming pool and languish to a waterfall’s gurgling music. A cozy living room welcomes guests when they first step foot inside. From there, the spacious floor plan sprawls into a kitchenette, a king-sized bedroom, and a marble-carved bathroom with a tub and walk-in shower. For those who seek private wellness beyond the Fitness Centre, the villa also offers a Technogym kit with a virtual coach on the MyWellness App. The Michelangelo Suite runs along the length of the old monastery. The largest suite at Villa San Michele, it once served as Napoleon Bonaparte’s Florence headquarters. Facing Florence’s jagged skyline and accented with sophisticated crimson decor, the 453-square-foot space offers a canopied king bed (or two twin beds upon request). At the foot of the bed is an ornate stone fireplace that swallows the entire wall, and offers a glimpse of what Napoleon saw each night before he fell asleep. Once the Prior’s quarters, the Donatello Suite cultivates a cozy aesthetic with its hooded stone fireplace and paneled windows that open up to views of Florence and her valley below. Private gardens or terraces accompany the Garden and Junior Suites, all equipped with luxurious Acqua di Parma toiletries. Terracotta floors, historic woodwork, and Renaissance color palettes immerse guests in la dolce vita , the Tuscan way. "To God and to Saint Michael. Niccolò de’ Davanzati had erected in 1411. Giovanni de’ Davanzati enlarged 1600." An Experience Like No Other While the embodiment of slow living, Villa San Michele offers no shortage of liveliness. On-site activities are always available at the swimming pool and Salus Regina Wellness Suite. The concierge’s events calendar immerses you in local culture to celebrate holidays, festivals, and food markets like a local. They can also curate exclusive, custom experiences like private Chianti wine tours, painting lessons in Florence, and mixology masterclasses to learn the art of the aperitivo cocktail. “The Art of Making” tour showcases the craftsmen who keep tradition alive in Florence. Go behind the scenes with the timeless leather-makers of Mercato di San Lorenzo, the crystal aficionados of Ponte Vecchio, or the hand-weavers at Piazza de’ Pitti hat shops. This tour allows guests to become part of Florence’s “New Renaissance,” where one-of-a-kind Italian craftsmanship in handbags, jewelry, apparel, and more still thrives. “Florence in An Ape Calessino” allows you to savor the City of the Baptist on the three-wheeled Ape Calessino. The preferred car in the 50s and 60s, its compact size proved efficient for Florentines transporting goods through narrow lanes and alleys. Available after 6 p.m., this custom tour reveals a special Florence after dark. “Secret Florence” unveils a city not seen by many: hidden rooms at the Opifico delle Pietre Dure and the forgotten artifacts at the Zeffirelli Museum whisper the city’s secrets that most tourists miss. Tuscan Tastebuds At La Loggia, dine among the clouds with more bird’s eye views of Florence. Chef Alessandro Cozzolino’s menu spins a modern flair on the timeless Tuscan palette. With ingredients sourced from the surrounding hills, La Loggia’s tasting menus embody the sumptuous flavors of the Medici, Italy's mightiest Renaissance family. Begin this culinary dream with Legami, “Between Vices and Quirks.” Highlights include Shrimp with lemon, mustard grains, and acacia honey; Agnolotti, a rare dish of scorpionfish, burrata, and cardamom; and Piccion…cino, pigeon, eggplants, strawberries, and Prato vermouth. The Sfumature menu, “In the Land of the Medicis,” sautees the flavors of the Renaissance. Amberjack: panzanella, basil, Canestrino tomato elixir; Egg Yolk Fagottini: salted cod, Maremma ricotta cheese, turmeric, oxtails; and Bischeri: The Sfumature menu, “In the Land of the Medicis,” sautees the flavors of the Renaissance. There was a time when a "good" Italy trip meant rushing from one famous site to the next. The Colosseum in the morning, Florence by evening, Venice the next day. At La Peninsula, we have watched that idea slowly disappear, and honestly, it makes sense. Today's travelers want something deeper, something they will actually remember. That is why more people are now choosing slow luxury travel in Tuscany , and it is changing the way the world travels. The Problem With Fast Sightseeing Fast travel has a cost that rarely shows up on the itinerary. You arrive home with hundreds of photos and very few real memories. You have seen things, yes, but you have not truly felt them. This is the core tension at the heart of modern tourism: volume versus depth. Over the years, overcrowded landmarks have become less about discovery and more about performance. Standing in a long queue at a famous gallery, rushing through a vineyard with thirty other strangers, or spending forty minutes in a medieval village because the schedule says so, these are not experiences. They are checkboxes. And increasingly, people are putting the checklist down. What Slow Tourism Is Slow tourism is not about doing less. It is about being more present in what you do. The idea is simple: instead of visiting five places in five days, what if you truly lived in one place for a week? That could mean waking up without an alarm in a farmhouse surrounded by olive groves. Spending a morning at a local market, learning which mushrooms are in season from the woman who picked them. Sitting through a four-hour lunch with no rush, then walking through vineyards as the afternoon sun turns golden. This kind of travel does not drain you. It actually brings you back to life. Why Tuscany Is the Natural Home of This Movement Tuscany has a quiet kind of magic, but you can only feel it when you slow down. The rolling hills, the cypress roads, the old stone villages. None of it truly lands when you are watching it from a bus window. It takes stillness. It takes patience. Slow travel in Tuscany works because the region was never in a hurry. Farmers follow the seasons. Winemakers walk their vines by hand. Sunday lunch runs deep into the afternoon. Stay long enough, and you start to feel it too. That is why slow luxury travel in Tuscany keeps drawing travelers who tried the fast version and come home feeling like they missed something. The real luxury is not just a beautiful room. It is how deeply you experience a place and the people you meet along the way. What Experiential Tourism Looks Like Travelers today are not looking for group tours and cooking demos. They want real experiences. A private morning walking the vineyard with the winemaker. Making pasta by hand in a village kitchen. A truffle hunt in the autumn forest, or a hot-air balloon ride over Chianti that ends with a breakfast made from local ingredients. These are the moments people actually remember. No photo can replace them. Where people stay has changed, too. Restored stone villages, private villas with organic gardens, and family-run farms. Not just a place to sleep, but a full part of the experience itself. The Best Slow Travel Tuscany Itinerary: A Simple Framework The best slow travel Tuscany itinerary is built around staying, not moving. Pick one or two bases instead of five. Give yourself at least three full days in each place and let the days find their own shape. Start in the Chianti Classico region between Florence and Siena, where old villages and family cellars sit just off winding roads. Then head south to the Val d'Orcia, where hilltop towns like Pienza, Montalcino and natural thermal springs make it easy to lose track of time. September and October are perfect, when the harvest is in full swing and the summer crowds are gone. The Bigger Picture: Why This Really Matters Slow and experiential tourism is not just a travel trend. It actually means something. When travelers stay longer and spend their money locally, they support family farms, small workshops, and rural communities that keep Tuscany's culture alive. It also takes pressure off the most visited spots and spreads the benefits of tourism more fairly across the region. And on a personal level, people who travel this way come home feeling rested, not drained. They bring back real stories and real friendships. That is the true promise of slow luxury travel in Tuscany : not a trip you need to recover from, but one you carry with you long after you leave. Conclusion Slow tourism is not a passing trend. It reflects a real change in how people think about travel. It asks you to trade quantity for quality, and Tuscany answers that better than almost anywhere else. Whether you are dreaming of a private morning at a winery, a truffle hunt through an autumn forest, or simply sitting still in a beautiful place with nowhere to be, slow travel in Tuscany has a way of giving you exactly what you need, even before you knew what that was. - Tuscan Olive Oil from Florence | Authentic Tuscan Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Discover authentic Tuscan olive oil from Florence, hand-harvested from centuries-old groves and cold-pressed to capture the bold flavor of traditional Tuscan extra virgin olive oil. A Tuscan Olive Oil Story Rooted in Family, Florence, and Tradition La Bella Toscanina began long before it became a company. It began around a table, surrounded by family, good food, and a deep appreciation for the Italian rituals that bring people together. After the birth of my daughter Luna, something quietly shifted in my life. I stepped away from the world of fashion design and moved toward something more grounding. I began spending more time in the kitchen and in the garden, rediscovering the comfort of cooking and the simple joy of growing what you eat. Those quiet moments brought me back to the essentials of Italian living: food, family, and the ingredients that make every meal meaningful. Authentic Tuscan Olive Oil from Florence, Italy My husband, Gabriele, was born and raised in Florence, Italy, where food is not simply nourishment but part of daily life and cultural heritage. His family still lives there, and for years they would send us bottles of extra-virgin olive oil from Tuscany, produced on a small family friend’s farm nestled in the rolling Tuscan hills. The first time I tasted it, I remember thinking: ‘This is completely different.’ It was vibrant, peppery, and alive, nothing like the olive oils we had grown used to in the United States. This was true Tuscan olive oil, rich with character, freshness, and the unmistakable taste of the Tuscan countryside. Founder Stacie Moss, her husband Gabriele, and their daughter, Luna. That moment stayed with me. I knew I wanted to share that experience with other families. From that desire, La Bella Toscanina was born. Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Tuscany: Harvested by Hand Today, we partner with a single Tuscan estate, a multi-generational farm producing authentic Italian extra virgin olive oil. Each autumn, olives are hand-harvested at peak ripeness and cold-pressed within hours, preserving the freshness, aroma, and distinctive peppery finish that defines traditional Tuscan olive oil from Florence. This careful harvesting process ensures that every bottle captures the essence of the Tuscan harvest, vibrant, aromatic, and deeply rooted in centuries of Italian culinary tradition. Renaissance Olive Groves: 500-Year-Old Trees in the Tuscan Hills Many of the olive trees on the estate are more than 500 years old, planted during the Italian Renaissance and still rooted in the same Tuscan soil today. Through generations of stewardship, these ancient olive groves have quietly shaped the Tuscan landscape. Their deep roots carry the memory of centuries of harvests, seasons, and families who have cared for the land. Each harvest carries not only the fruit of the olive tree but also the story of Tuscany itself. The Cultural Heart of Italian Olive Oil For us, Tuscan olive oil is more than an ingredient. It represents gathering, slowing down, and sharing meals that become lasting memories. Across Italy, especially in Tuscany, olive oil is the foundation of the table. It brings together generations, enhances the simplest ingredients, and reflects the agricultural heritage that defines Italian cuisine. The Tin Collection: Harkened Summer Holidays in Italy The La Bella Toscanina tin collection was born from the same spirit of Italian living. The design was inspired by the feeling of summer holidays in Italy, long sun-washed days spent by the seaside with family. The striped patterns echo the rhythm of beach umbrellas and cabanas lining the Italian coast, and the easy joy of afternoons that seemed to last forever. There is something timeless about those colors and patterns, a quiet nostalgia that feels both playful and elegant, unmistakably Italian. When developing the palette, inspiration came not only from Italy but also from interior design. The goal was to create tins that feel like beautiful objects within the home. Each tin is designed to live proudly on the kitchen counter rather than be hidden away in a cabinet. Every tin carries its own personality and color palette, a distinct mood that stands beautifully on its own. Yet when they sit together, the collection truly comes alive. The colors begin to speak to one another, forming a composition that feels layered, vibrant, and harmonious, much like a table set for a family gathering. They are practical, but they are also meant to bring a sense of beauty into everyday rituals. Bringing a Piece of Tuscany into Every Kitchen The name La Bella Toscanina translates to “beautiful little Tuscany.” It reflects a simple idea: bringing a piece of Tuscany, its warmth, flavors, and soul, into kitchens everywhere. Because the most meaningful moments are often the simplest ones: a meal shared, a table full of loved ones, and authentic Tuscan extra virgin olive oil at the center of it all. Even the smallest kitchen rituals, cooking a meal, pouring olive oil over fresh bread, gathering with family, can hold a quiet kind of poetry.
